17th Martyrdom anniversary of Lalak Jan Shaheed observed in Hundur Yasin

Hundur: Martyrdom anniversary of Lalak Jan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) was officially observed for the first time in his native village Hundur Yasin. Though Pakistan Army has been paying tribute to him on the occasions of Defense Day but this was the first event of its kind since Lalak Jan’s martyrdom in 1999.

Commanding Officer NLI Centre Bunji Munawar Ibrar, a major from 12NLI and a team of jawans paid tribute to the brave of son of the soil with a formal army parade and laid floral wreath at his mausoleum later.

In his speech the Commanding Officer highlighted the valor and bravery of Lalak Jan Shaheed (N.H) and the services he rendered during Kargil War in 1999.  He said that every year this day would be celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm in order to remember the great soul.

More than 3000 people including Lalak Jan Shaheed’s family, villagers and notables of the area showed up on the occasion as many visitors from different areas were also there.

It’s to be mentioned here that Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed embraced martyrdom in Kargil war and later he was awarded Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military award. He is the first person from NLI and whole Gilgit-Baltistan to receive this award of gallantry.
