Media Condemns Mob Attack on Photo Journalist in Gilgit

Gilgit— Journalist community has expressed concern over the trend of bullying media in Gilgit Baltistan. During the recent unrest in Gilgit, Alamgeer Berch a photo journalist of Gilgit Baltistan was harassed in Nagar Colony while he was on assignment. Outraged protesters peeved them and constantly attempted to snatch his camera.

Alamgeer was accompanied by his Beauru Chief at Sadaee Gilgit; Mr. Imtiaz Bagoro who tried to calm down the mob without any success. The two journalists avoided several whizzing fists and their work was interrupted badly.

Journalist Community demanded the government to provide security to on-duty journalists so that they can fearlessly perform their duty.

Media in Gilgit Baltistan face several hardships in their work including government pressure, commercial blackmailing and public intimidation.
